Cancer Research Malaysia Scaled Its Patient Support Programme to 3,000+ Breast Cancer Patients With a Data Management System

Cancer Research Malaysia was managing its Patient Navigation Program for low-income breast cancer patients using Excel spreadsheets that only one person could access at a time. Real-time updates were impossible, data integrity was at risk, and reporting to stakeholders was time-consuming. TMS Software built a centralised cloud-based patient data management system on Joget DX, enabling multi-user access, real-time progress tracking, and faster reporting across four government hospitals. Over 3,000 patients have been managed through the system to date, with plans to expand to more hospitals and integrate with national healthcare systems.

Challenges CHALLENGES

Excel Only Data, No Real-Time Access

  • Faced difficulties in conducting analytics, frequent cumbersome updates were required in
Excel, unable to handle real-time data synchronization
  • Only one user could access the file at a time, limiting collaboration
  • The lack of a centralized, real-time data system made it difficult to maintain data integrity,
    consistency, and up-to-date information
  • There was a need for improved data management, monitoring, and evaluation to assess
the program’s effectiveness in improving patient outcomes
  • The program needed better tools for quality improvement, decision-making, research,
and analysis to enhance reporting and accountability
  • Building and maintaining trusted relationships with patients were challenging without a
streamlined system to manage the entire patient journey, from initial diagnosis and
counseling to follow-up and treatment completion

Solutions SOLUTIONS

Centralised Cloud Patient System

A Patient Data Management System was developed with Joget DX as a centralized, cloudbased platform to manage their Patient Navigation Program (PNP), an initiative focused on
serving B40 low-income breast cancer patients segment at KKM (Kementerian Kesihatan
Malaysia) General Hospitals

  • The solution has handled 3000+ patients to-date across Hospital Tengku Ampuan
Rahimah Klang, Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban, Hospital Umum Sarawak Kuching, and
Hospital Queen Elizabeth II Kota Kinabalu
  • Real-time data updates and multi-user access have been enabled, with key features to
monitor patient progress, barriers to accessing healthcare, treatment adherence, and PNP
impact on diagnosis as well as treatment initiation timeliness
  • Joget was leveraged to provide timely and accurate data, streamline resource allocation,
    program planning, and policy development
  • With the system capabilities, CRMY can now enhanced their reporting processes with
quick statistics , increasing the efficiency of monitoring and reporting to stakeholders
  • Future plans to further enhance the solution for better patients care include enhancing
multi-hospital patient management, streamlining appointment and treatment tracking
processes, improving diagnostic data collections, and integrations with healthcare
    systems
